Big news! Cupcakes for the Cure 2012 will be in October to align with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Founded in 2008 by breast cancer survivor Lisa
Shelly and fellow cupcake buddies Kathy Cagney-Rossi and Doris Cheung, "Cupcakes
for the Cure" is a third party event organized to benefit the Denver Affiliate
of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. During the month of October,
participating bakeries create pink-themed
cupcakes and donate a portion of the proceeds from sales to Komen.
Now in its fifth year, "Cupcakes for the Cure"
has raised over $19,000 in donations. From the beginning, Lisa, Kathy and Doris
have worked to combine their shared love of cupcakes with a commitment to the
mission of the Komen organization. With help from some great volunteers, the team
creates all promotional materials and does all the marketing themselves. The event
allows cupcake lovers to indulge their passion while contributing to a worthy cause,
and participating bakeries get a chance to demonstrate their community involvement.
