L
isa Shelly is an Information Technology Analyst and a breast cancer survivor who will celebrate four years of survivorship in July, 2011. She is also an avid space program enthusiast who loves to read, cook and indulge her devotion for all things Cupcake. Lisa was still undergoing treatment when she walked in her first Race for the Cure in October of 2007. The Race was such a positive experience, she decided to sign up as a volunteer with the Denver Affiliate of Komen. The "Cupcakes for the Cure" event was the perfect way to combine her love of cupcakes with her commitment to the mission of the Komen organization. Lisa counts herself fortunate to have met Kathy Cagney-Rossi and Doris Cheung, who share her passion for cupcakes and for life.
K
athy Cagney-Rossi is an actress/writer and entrepreneur. She has worked in theatre, tv and film for 28 years. Kathy has also worked in the “real” world as an account executive, jewelry designer and cupcake chef. She loves life and cupcakes. It’s because of her love of cupcakes that she met her wonderful new friend and survivor, Lisa Shelly. One day while contemplating the cake-to-frosting ratio of some yummy cupcakes they were sharing, the idea for “Cupcakes for the Cure” was born. It seemed like a delicious idea to help make a difference. Kathy counts her blessings every day. She is grateful for her good health, great husband and adorable dog, Cayman.
D
oris Cheung is an educational consultant, avid home baker, and mommy to her two Pomeranians, Violet and Ruthie. As a consultant, Doris works with academic organizations and their faculty to help make learning for adults more meaningful and effective. She also loves to bake scrumptious treats for her husband Tim, family, and friends and organize a meetup group for little doggies and their parents. A foodie at heart, Doris crossed paths with fellow cupcake connoisseurs Kathy Cagney-Rossi and Lisa Shelly by way of the Denver Cupcake Club. It didn’t take long for the three to realize they wanted to make an impact on the lives of others and spread good cheer along the way, and so began Cupcakes for the Cure.
